Dear Colleagues,
It gives me great pleasure to inform you that the Pan Arab Liver Transplantation Society (PALTS) will be holding its Third Pan Arab Liver Transplantation Congress in Amman, Jordan during the period 12 13 March. The congress will host a number of key international speakers who will be presenting cutting edge advancements in Liver Transplantation, sharing their knowledge and valuable experience with the participants. Issues to be reviewed at the congress will include:
Founded in March 2006 by representatives of countries that had active liver transplant programs in the Arab region at that time, namely Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Algiers, PALTS aims to promote and encourage education, research and co-operation in the field of liver transplantation between various liver transplant programs in the Arab region and to create a scientific forum for discussion of all challenges related to liver transplantation including medical, ethical, social and legal aspects. PALTS has so far held two congresses, the first in Cairo in 2006 and the second in Riyadh in 2007.
The Third Pan Arab Liver Transplantation Congress will be held in collaboration with the Jordan Society for Encouraging Organ Donation (JSEOD), headed by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah, and the Friends of Liver Patients Society. The aim of this collaboration will be to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation, both at national and regional level, and to raise awareness on means to prevent liver diseases.
We hope that this Congress will be of interest to you and look forward to welcoming you to Jordan.
Dr Abdullah Al Basheer
